Stress has been a problem for many during the ‘lockdown’ period of the current pandemic.
People have been sent home from their work, lost their jobs, and the experience of not being able to play sport, go to the gym, a swell as staying away from pubs, cinemas and other experiences have left people feeling stressed.
This can and has impacted home life and relationships. So here is a quick health check which I suggest you glance over, simply to gauge how you are doing with your stress levels during this somewhat confusing times.

Many people, nowadays, are prescribed medication as a short term relief of symptoms, but more and more people in their wisdom are seeking the advice and services of a holistic therapist, and booking a regular massage (and or coaching sessions) as a way of truly taking care of themselves.
Stress is a common experience.
Stress appears to be the bane of many people’s lives as they stretch to cope with the pressures of work, family life, and the 60,000 thoughts running through the mind day after day. Don’t worry, the normal experience of each living person is to have sixty to seventy thousand thoughts each day!

Some of these thoughts are useful (deciding to get out of bed in the morning, getting something to eat and making sure that there is some sort of recreation at the weekend to balance things up. However, many of the items running through our minds are not very helpful: the ones that are ‘‘depressive’, ‘anxious making’ ‘aggresive’ and the ones by which we ‘beat ourselves up’.
The experience of a quiet mind is what each and everyone of us hope for. When our minds are quiet, we are tranquil, happy and others find us attractive. A quiet mind is also very good for our immune system, which is very useful during this current strange time of the virus.
The quiet of the massage couch.
The experience on the massage couch for countless people is that the mind settles down which results in feeling great. There is an awareness of laying there peaceably, with a feeling similar to dropping off to sleep, an afternoon snooze, sunbathing in the garden or at the beach.
At “Unwind” there is the awareness of the soft soothing music in the background and of the warm oil on the skin, aswell as the soothing effect which is gained from having tired muscles gently soothed and stretched, leaving you feeling more comfortable in your own skin. This experience is helpful, also, for those people who usually choose a sports massage or deep tissue massage but wisely opt for a holistic massage or Swedish massage once in a while in order to totally calm the mind.
Clinical studies show that even 30 minutes of massage treatment can significantly lower your heart rate, cortisol and insulin levels and therefore reduce stress significantly. It also has a considerable affect on the digestive, immune and circulatory systems of the body.
One of the greatest joys of being a massage therapist is to see the look on people’s faces at the end of a massage treatment hour. Many people come into the room looking stressed and overworked and leave looking happy, relaxed, radiant, calm and thoroughly restored.
